CLAUDIA SCHNEIDER

Claudia is a proud member of AEA, SAG and AFTRA. Claudia graduated from Colby College with a BA in English. She spent several years touring New England in a rock band before moving to New York. Claudia spent time in Stella Adler’s last class, at HB Studios, studying with Uta Hagen and Sandy Dennis. Additional teachers over the years include Max Gartenberg, Aaron Frankel, Steve Lutvak, Michael Rafter and James Calleri. Terry Schreiber was also an important mentor.

 

Her acting career has taken her to regional theaters across the country in both musical and dramatic work, and to Europe as a cabaret performer. New York credits include: The Irish Repertory Theatre, Lincoln Center, La Mama, The Brooks-Atkinson with Martin Charnin, The Culture Project, Playwrights Horizons, and Queens Theater in the Park.

 

Claudia created The Redfield Company with Karen Elaine Wells in 1990, an Off-Off-Broadway troupe that performed for several years at different venues, including: The Raft, Grove Street Playhouse and T.Schreiber Studios. Redfield premiered several new plays, including Eddie Di Santis’s “Blue Film” and Nancy Hasty’s “Florida Girls,” which was consequently picked up for an extended Off-Broadway run.

Claudia continues to perform “Words of Choice,” a dynamic pro-choice theater piece that has traveled to over twenty states with text by contributing writers that include: Cindy Cooper, Gloria Steinem, Kathy Najimy, Jana Mackey and Judge Harry Blackman. She has also worked with Circle of Health International on “The Vagina Monologues” to benefit Midwives for Peace.

 

Educational work includes: The University of Maine Summer Theater Intensive, The Depot Theater’s Apprentice Program, Pelham Young People’s Summer Theatre Program, ARTSPOWER NY, Mother Goose Rides Again (an NEA funded School and Hospital Tour of the Metropolitan Area), the ongoing Creative Theatre Arts Workshop for Manhattan’s City School and NYU’s MFA Playwriting Lab.

 

Claudia worked with Jennings/Hicks Baby Wrangler Casting for Proctor and Gamble on a five year exclusive worldwide contract, casting and directing young commercial talent. Additionally, Jennings/Hicks Baby Wranglers cast/worked on set with Fisher Price, Gerber, Jell-O, Nickelodeon, Jennifer Lopez’s “Glow” campaign, and on the film “Immediate Family.”

 

Claudia continues to play root music with her pick up band and helps to run Mary’s Food Pantry in Harlem.
