Meet our 2016 Summer Interns

 

Chris Darbassie
Design and Technical

A self-proclaimed Renaissance man of theater, Chris Darbassie is a current sophomore at Pace University. He is majoring in Production and Design, with a concentration in lighting design, and minoring in Communications. He is thrilled to be the tech intern for New Light Theater Project and can’t wait for what unfolds from this great partnership!

Ava Deutch
Production

Ava has just completed her junior year at Montclair State University as a BFA Theatre Production and Design major with a concentration in Stage Management. Previous MSU credits include Clybourne Park, Merrily We Roll Along, Die Fledermaus and the fall and spring dance concerts. She will be managing Iphigenia in the fall at MSU in the Alexander Kasser Theatre. She has also stage managed at a local theatre in her hometown of Glen Rock NJ. She is very excited about working with New Light Theater Project and welcomes this new and exciting experience!

Wes Goodrich
Production

Wes is a currently a Directing and Political Science double major at Pace University. His first taste of theater was in his stepfather’s middle school production of A Raisin in the Sun as Travis. Since then he’s majored in theater in both middle school and high school. In high school he was given amazing opportunities to be involved in different parts of theater. He’s performed in productions of As You Like It (NYU Steinhardt Summer Program), Those We Thought We Loved (Education@Roundabout) and most recently Carmen (YoungArts Out of The Box.). Outside of acting he’s gotten to direct two one act plays and write two one act plays. Wesley is extremely excited and honored to be an intern at New Light.  

Margaret Matthews
Administrative
 

Margaret is about to graduate from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art & Performing Arts, where she majored in drama. There, she performed roles from Brighton Beach Memoirs, The Odd Couple, Oh Dad, Poor Dad…, Twelfth Night, The Other Shore, and The Compleat Female Stage Beauty. While her love for acting drove her towards the school, she is leaving with ambitions on the technical side of production. She has helped manage props and build sets at LaGuardia, and is excited to broaden her experience through her work this summer. She is thrilled to begin this internship and is ready to learn as much as she can before heading off to Vassar College, where she plans to continue studying Theater.

Rachel Norman
Marketing

Rachel is from Westchester, NY and currently attends Muhlenberg College. She is a Theatre Major with an Acting Concentration and a double minor in Dance and Women & Gender Studies. Rachel is an actress, singer, dancer, and stage manager who has performed in high school and college theatre productions, as well as being a featured soloist at the Don’t Tell Mama NYC Cabaret. Rachel honed her social media marketing skills at New York Vocal Coaching and is excited to be a part of New Light's promotional team!

Winston Venderbush
General Management
 

Winston is a rising Senior at Stuyvesant High School. He is the co-president of the Stuyvesant Theater Community and a Coordinator of Stuyvesant's annual SING! productions. He is trained in many of the arts, including acting, singing, classical violin, and ballet. He now focuses on theater for its ability to combine different art forms and its ability to truly bring stories to life.
